The Vikes started their far end swing of their tour of the Mississippi 8 conference the past week. They started off the week playing Big Lake in Big Lake on Tuesday, and on Thursday played Becker at home. The girls played well against Big Lake, winning 6-1. All the doubles teams won, with Sophie Smith and Hollie Ohnsorg, and Rachel Wurdemann and Hailey Bistodeau winning in straight sets. Justine Joyal and Sophia Helinsky took a third set to get the victory. Chloe Moline, Miaya Volkman, and Gemma Rossini won in singles as well, all in straight sets. Carrie Hall fell behind in the first set, but played tough in her second sent, pushing it to a 5-7 loss.
On Thursday the Vikes welcomed Becker to the courts. Becker has been playing extremely well, and they showed up to play on Thursday. The Vikes lost 0-7, but played very well against a good team. All up and down the courts the players were in their matches, fighting and winning points against some of the best opponents we’ve played all year. The team came away happy, knowing that they had played well and pushed.
Next up for Varsity is Monticello at home and St. Francis away.
