Boys Varsity Basketball · Vikings BBB win in OT 81-79

It was great to finally win a close game! We had been 0-4 in games decided by 2 possessions or less so it was awesome to see our guys get one against Becker on Monday night.

Becker entered the game 5-3 and beat us the first game of the year 89-81. We got down early 13-20 before going on a 23-7 run to take a 36-27 lead late in the first half. We were able to hold onto that lead until late in the second half when Becker took the lead 64-61. It went back and forth until the Vikings had possession of the ball down 3 with seconds left. Carson Klein was able to make a three at the buzzer to force overtime.

In the OT period we had the ball underneath our own basket with 1.4 (or maybe 1.7?) seconds left. Adam Rehm made a great pass to Nate Halseth for a lob to end the game, with a 2 point Viking win. Beyond excited for Nate who is a Senior to have that moment. Something he will always remember.

We finally got on track from the 3 point line after a few games straight where we have struggled. We were 14/35 from the 3 point line. Thankfully we shot the ball decent, because we still aren’t where we need to be rebounding, second chance points, and limiting transition.

Adam Rehm continued his strong season with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.

Trevor Johnson, didn’t have his best game, but still ended up with 18 points and 14 rebounds, including making 5 3’s on the night. Compliments to him that even though the game didn’t come easy for him offensively, that he fought for 14 boards.

Carson Klein added 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Travis Schoeberl was HUGE off of the bench, scoring 12 points on four 3’s in the first half. In a game that our starters struggled, especially in the first half, we needed everything we got from Travis. He also added 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Andrew added 8 and Nate Halseth had 4 points (including the game winner) and 4 rebounds off of the bench.

It was great to start our second round through the conference schedule with a win…we have to continue to push to improve. We are close, but just not hitting on all cylinders right now.
