North Branch Vikings Varsity Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Cambridge-Isanti
North Branch Vikings Varsity defeated Cambridge-Isanti 7-5 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three with North Branch Vikings Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Liz Gladitsch drew a walk, scoring one run.
North Branch Vikings Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning when Sam Pederson homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Cambridge-Isanti tied things up at three. Isabella Lenzen grounded out, scoring one run.
Kristi Pilz led the North Branch Vikings Varsity to victory in the circle. She went six innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out four. Pederson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Pederson recorded the last three outs to earn the save for North Branch Vikings Varsity.
Annette Johnson took the loss for Cambridge-Isanti. She surrendered seven runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out two.
North Branch Vikings Varsity socked two home run on the day. Pederson had a four bagger in the first and second innings.
