After a slow start vs Milaca the Vikings rebounded with a great final 15 minutes to pull away from the Milaca Wolves. I thought that our energy and execution were not very good to start out with but we were still able to hold a lead late in the first half at 26-25. From that point, Milaca responded with a 22-8 run to take the 13 point lead early in the second half.
From that point on, our players played the best 13 minutes of the season, ending the game on a 46-17 run.
It really was a story of two halves with nearly every statistical category being much better in the second half. I was really happy with the way that our players responded in the second half and our crowd played a huge part of that. For being poor weather and a game during the holiday break, our crowd was big and loud (THANK YOU!).
Drew VanEerden continued his hot streak with 24 points (19 in the second half), 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. He has been great over the past 5 games.
Conner Hartmann has also been fantastic over that same stretch, had 19 points, 13 points, 4 assists.
Colby Knutson had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. He was essential in breaking the press for us and did a great job attacking the basket.
Carter Whitman had 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
True team effort for us (Austin Grovender hit one of the biggest threes of the game) and it came at a perfect time for us. Looking forward to building some momentum in the new year.
